Usability Testing & User Feedback

Observed behaviour replacing internal opinion, through moderated and unmoderated testing rounds.

Overview

What usability testing & user feedback looks like with Datalabs.

Observed behaviour replacing internal opinion. Moderated and unmoderated sessions on prototypes or live product show exactly where people hesitate, misread or give up.

You get clips, severity ratings and a fix list — evidence a room can agree on rather than another round of preference-based debate.

Benefits

What you get, specifically.

01

Moderated sessions

Guided tests where we probe why a user hesitated, not just that they did.

02

Unmoderated at scale

Larger remote rounds when you need volume to confirm a pattern.

03

Severity-rated findings

Issues ranked from blocking to cosmetic so fixes get sequenced correctly.

04

Video evidence

Short clips that end internal debate faster than any written summary.

05

Recruitment handled

Participants sourced and screened to match your real user profile.

06

Retesting built in

Follow-up rounds after fixes ship to confirm the problem is actually gone.

Usability Testing & User Feedback · FAQ

Questions we're asked about this.

Question not covered here? Ask a senior specialist →

What is usability testing?

Watching real users attempt real tasks on your product and recording where they hesitate, misread or fail. It replaces internal opinion with observed behaviour, and it usually takes under two weeks to run.

Moderated or unmoderated testing?

Moderated sessions are better for complex flows and follow-up questions; unmoderated testing is faster and cheaper for validating specific tasks. Most programmes use unmoderated rounds for breadth and moderated sessions for depth.

What do we get at the end?

A prioritised issue list with severity ratings, video evidence for each finding and specific recommended fixes. Clips are the fastest way to end a stakeholder debate about whether a problem is real.

How often should we test?

Quarterly for a live product, plus a round before any major release. Regular small rounds catch regressions long before they show up as a drop in conversion.
